Project was to create a scene using a song as inspiration.  I picked To the Moon and Back by Savage Garden.

Dappled Sunlight on a Jungle Path

Painting done onsite at the LA arboretum in gouache.  I really enjoy painting the lighting, especially when the sunlight filters through the leaves, creating a pattern of shifting shadows on the ground beneath.

This was painted differently than what I usually do, where I would block everything in.  But this time I just drew in the line work instead.  I think it’s working pretty well.

Savage Garden Album Cover Redesign

Final Project for Expressive type class.  The project was to redesign an album cover but with type as the main thing.  So I chose Savage Garden because they’re one of my favorite bands.

So I finally fleshed out the character.  I’m gonna have to draw the other characters too.

I’ve been super busy lately, with summer classes at school and taking classes outside of school during the weekends.  Its tiring, but I think I can do it.  The weekend classes are actually a lot of fun, but I’m kinda sad its ending soon though :[
